Sometimes I Forget

There are days when I forget about Dimples massive hours long tantrums.  Then there are days when I am reminded of them!

Last night I caused a nice long tantrum.  How?  Silly me, I told her to go to the bathroom before going to bed.  Why would I do such a silly thing?  Because someone has been peeing on their pile of dirty laundry.  I know, silly me.  So we got to listen to her scream until she fell asleep.

The injustice of it all!  Uh, do you make your kids go to the bathroom before heading to bed?  I really didn't think that the issue was tantrum worthy.  I mean, geez, if you want to have a tantrum at least make it worthwhile.  You know, over lost chocolate or Oreo.

  1. Of course kids need to go to the bathroom before bed! Especially if they are having any bathrooming issues! Hopefully eventually she'll just accept the routine as habit. :) At least if you've forgotten about the tantrums that must mean they're happening less frequently? So there is progress! I admire you so much and SO appreciate you sharing your fostering journey. It is encouraging as we go through ours.

  3. LOL I can SOOOOOOO relate! I catch myself trying to avoid a tantrum, but at the same time I refuse to give in or coddle mine. I do take heart in tantrums that use to be 3+ a day or down to 1-3 a WEEK! Hang in there it will get better.

  4. Is that a control issue tantrum perhaps? I am in the process of trying to potty train my 3 year old so all of that control issue stuff is fresh in my brain from researching the do's and don't's.

  5. Our oldest daughter had some really unbelievably memorable tamtrums when we made her brush her teeth. Her dad would always tell her someday you will thank me for making you brush your pretty white teeth. She is in college now and we got a good laugh out of a paper she wrote recently about her memories of the battle over teeth brushing and the thank you we've been waiting for all these years was nice too!
