Court Today

The girls had court today.  They came to us as an adoptive placement that is considered a legal risk.  Basically that means that they have not terminated their parents rights and there is chance that it may not happen.

The court hearing today was to change from reunification to TPR.  The judge did approve the change.  Now the kids SW has 60 days to file a petition for involuntary termination of parental rights.  After it has been filed then a court date will be set.

At a TPR hearing both sides will argue their point.  One saying that the parents have not met the requirements on the case plan within a timely manner and it is in the best interest of the children to get TPR, the other side will state that they are making progress.   I know that it took Anthony and Larissa 3 years to get TPR because they wanted to give the biological parents plenty of time to work their plan.  Three years seems a bit excessive to me.  Our current kids have been in care for 2 years.

So, step 1 is completed.  Change to TPR.  Next we wait for the petition to be filed and a court date made.

  1. WOW! You can care less if these children are back with their parents! How cruel and unjust!!! As a former foster child I must tell you that what comes around goes around!

  2. You have no clue what's going on. So, please don't comment unless you know what you're talking about. I'm not trying to be rude or anything..
