Sick is a Four Letter Word

Moms are not supposed to get sick, we don't have time for that. Thankfully I don't get sick often. However, whatever is going around has gotten hold of me. After coughing up my lungs for a week I finally broke down and went to the doctor and he prescribed me some very nasty tasting medicine. If it is really nasty then it should be good. Not so, within hours of taking this medicine I was throwing up. Ugh, things just got worse. Well, I just assumed that it was a reaction to the meds and I'd be back to my hacking self on Tuesday morning.

See, Tuesday morning I was scheduled to take the MAT test for my Graduate school application. Silly me decided on the 23rd of March that I wanted to go to school. Upon researching schools I realized that the cut off date was April 1st. I figure I can do this, I get my references in order (thanks) and they already had my transcripts, all it left was the MAT test. I buy a book to help figure out the MAT test and promptly feel really stupid. You do 120 analogies in 60 minutes. Analogies such as:

TAUTOLOGICAL: REDUNDANT :: (A. mature, B. incipient, C. obnoxious, D. late): INCHOATE

Huh? Well, I know what redundant is but tautological? The book says that the MAT is a high-level test of mental ability and critical-thinking skills. OK, I think I lost some of those a few kids ago.

So, Tuesday morning I wake up with a small head ache and I am thinking that the test is doable. This is in spite of the fact that I never did get to study the book because I had been sick ever since I purchased it. The testing facility is 40 minutes away. Naturally, by time I get there I am throwing up. I figure that I can take the test real quick and get home. Yea right, until I walk into the testing room and it is extremely hot. I start the test sweating, head pounding and trying to ignore the nauseating feeling I have. Thirty minutes into the test I am running to the bathroom after being given a warning that the test is timed. I didn't care, I didn't want to barf in that hot room. Fifteen minutes after getting back from the bathroom I finished the test. I don't think that I did much higher thinking, I just read it and checked the first one my mind said looked good. At the end of the test it asks if you want it scored or not. I sat and looked at it and figured I wasn't coming back so go ahead. Well, I needed at 388 for the program and was shocked that I got a 411. Happy me got out of there quickly and I only had to make one stop on the way home.

I am slowly getting better. However, I am afraid that my house may not recover for a long time. I don't think that I have ever been this sick for this long, you can't even find matched socks in the house. I would be cleaning tomorrow except for the fact that I haven't purchased one item for Easter yet. I also need to go pay rent and then we are having dinner with some out of town guests.
Scary isn't it?
Ugh, I really need a wife to clean this place for me.

  2. Actually, Sarah has tried to help. She even colored eggs with the little ones last night. The other day dear husband and Sarah actually made dinner, guess they were tired of "dig up night" and take outs. I am down to just the cough and can live with that!

  3. I took a test for grad like that and got a whole 40%. Then we got orders and left so I didn't have to worry about the fact I totally bombed it. It would have been my second grad degree and luckily I came to my senses.
