A Boy and His Car - Bargain Shopping

When I was a kid my dad would take me to Goodwill and allow me to get as many books as I wanted. I loved to read and therefore loved Goodwill. When I became an adult I continued to go to Goodwill. You just never know what you will find.  When I became a mom to many kids it became a lifesaver. Sometimes we go and look at the dollar rack of clothing just for the fabric, so much cheaper and sometimes you can find a unique piece of fabric.

The other day I took Benjamin with me and he fell in love with this car.  It has a metal body and was really cute.  It also had a price tag of $4.75.  He had to ride it out the store and through the parking lot to the car.

I tried to pick him up but the car came with him.  I had to pry his little legs off the body and then his hands off the steering wheel.  I sat it next to him so he could hold it.

He loves his little car and I love that for under $5 I was able to get him a quality toy.  I looked it up online, that car can be purchased for $100 on Amazon.

I am always looking for a bargain; garage sales, clearance sales, Craigslist, facebook sale sites.  I shop at all of them.  Paying full price for clothing and toys is not necessary.

So, I am curious, who else bargain shops and do you have a favorite find?

  1. We are bargain shoppers! To date, my favorite kid find is a Melissa and Doug easel for under $10.

  2. Me, me, me! I love when Once Upon a Child has all their clearance stuff for 50 cents to $1. That's how I initially created my stockpile before I started fostering. I've also been lucky that that sale has coincided with both my first two foster kids leaving me, and was able to replenish their sizes in my stockpile for CHEAP. (I'll also admit that I'm a little bit of a hoarder LOL).

And - I can't remember how I found your blog, but I also live in SC!

    1. We hit their dollar sale before we went on our trip. Michelle suddenly moved up a size and needed summer stuff. We shop at the one in Columbia. Great place for baby equipment too.

  3. Our Goodwill is way overpriced. I can get clothes cheaper on the Walmart clearance racks. Base thrift is sometimes good but I rarely get there and now it is closed for the summer. I was able to get Jasmine's school shirst with the logo for $4 each though in May.

  4. I bargain hunt! I have favorite thrift and consignment store, as well as garage sales. Gymboree and Children's Place have really good sales sometimes, too. I just got Ry a new fleece hoodie at Gymboree for $3.95. Regular price was $39.95. Naturally, I bought the next two sizes, too!

  5. It is the only way to bargain shop with a houseful of kids! We do lots of kids' consignment sales and thrift stores and Goodwill. Last winter I outfitted my 6yr old for $20. A pair of shoes, 5 full outfits and a coat!!
