Motivation

For this year I decided to do something for myself. I signed up for a small painting class. I have never taken a painting class and wanted to learn faces. I signed up last week for a faces class for $35 by Jane Davenport    (http://janedavenport.com/ )

I am enjoying the class and taking some time for myself.

I noticed that Anthony was always looking at my sketch pad with envy.  One thing that has challenged us has been finding the motivator for him.  Suddenly it dawned on me that this could be his motivator.  He wants to watch the videos I have been watching.  Right now he is not finishing his homework before bedtime.  He will literally sit there.  I have told him that if he completes his homework on time then he can work on faces with me after dinner.  Today I bought him his own sketch pad and pencils.  He is drooling.  I hope that this motivates him to but forth an effort.  If it doesn't then I am not sure what we are dealing with.

Is anyone else taking the time to do something for themselves this year?

  2. I am dealing with a lot of quirky emotions and feelings right now. Some days it's all I can do just to get through the day :(

    1. Is it your quirky emotions? You seem to be quieter on your blog lately. Are you OK?

  3. Oh, I hope it works for Anthony!!! It is so hard to motivate some kids. I'm really struggling with Jackson right now in the same department. He tells me that his homework is just so boring that he can't stand doing it. He would rather sit at the table for 3 hours staring at it than knock it out in five minutes. I remember doing that a few times as a kid. I got over it pretty quickly, though. Jackson isn't getting over it.

What am I doing just for myself? Quilting!!! I decided to make Rylie's crib bedding rather than buying it. I picked the prettiest material yesterday, and I'm cutting my quilt blocks today. I love quilting and haven't done any of it since we brought the girls home.

  4. The quote around the face is amazing. I love all of it!

For me, I am committing to my goal of becoming healthy again. I was healthy before my son was born 5 years ago and not since. I WILL get there this time.

  5. Getting in shape this year was a big reason for putting in the pool. I am not supposed to do any type of high impact exercise and my thyroid seems to always be out of whack so I wanted to go back to the type of exercise I did when I was growing up in CA, swimming. Looks like we can get into shape together.

  6. YAY! Good for you. Art is my first love and I'm always so excited when someone else gets the bug. I hope it helps get Anthony going. My Tiger drags his feet too... so frustrating.
I'm with you and roadrunner. I take pilates twice a week. It is an expense. But when if I stick to my twice a week schedule my hip (that has bugged me since pregnancy number 2) doesn't bug me. So... I figure it is worth it.
