Happy New Year!
I am obviously not an expert on the big room selfies!
As we prepare our meal for the day to include black eyed peas and greens I was wondering what traditions everyone has for New Years Day?
I was planning on having a big laundry day here and my mom's caregiver said we can't because we will wash someone out of our life this year if we do. I had another friend tell me that she doesn't spend money on the New Year. She didn't give me a reason.
So share, what do you do (or don't do) on this day?
I've never been much of a New Year's celebrator and we don't let our son stay up (and half the time we don't make it to midnight either. But last year we watched the Star Wars original trilogy with our AS11 over the New Year's weekend, and we're doing the same this year, and I like it - it's a fun, lazy tradition for the last week of school break (husband's a teacher so he has off too). Also, I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan, so I'm happy to get to re-watch once a year! This year I'm showing AS12 two of the prequels too. And of course we've seen the Force Awakens (twice, including opening night, in costume).
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated last night by staying up later. I normally make chocolate fondue, but I just didn't feel like it this year. We never do anything special on New Year's Day. Today the kids played outside most of the day and while Ry was asleep, I worked more on my craft room. I like using New Year's Day to launch back into routine.
ReplyDeletePork and sauerkraut brings good luck. While I don't believe in "luck" per se, we do eat pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day. Overall, uneventful day. Love hearing from the family though and hearing the hopeful plans of my adult children for the coming year.
