Roll Call

I am curious, who is reading. Comment and let me know you are there! If you would like, tell me why you read and if there is anything you would really like me to write about.

  1. I love reading this blog because of the unique first person perspective. I'm currently a caregiver and want to learn about fostering children with special needs.

  2. I read! I love your stories about all your kids but I have a particular soft spot for Larissa. I had many illnesses that made traditional school difficult and I admire her for how she perseveres. I love, love, love your art and have fantasies of you putting out stationery or something similar that I can buy! (I write a lot of letters). As for what you could write about... I wonder sometimes how you do it all... foster kids, your mother and everything else. I would be a basket-case!

  4. I've read your blog for years, I would love to foster, but my husband is not interested. I'm still working on him 😁 I feel like I know your family now and love to know how they are all doing.

  5. I completely agree with Jennifer. Your artwork is beautiful. I first fell in love with your blog hearing about Larissa and she is such a beautiful girl. You inspire me, as I am juggling with only 2 children right now. I have been trying to get the ICPC process completed so I can get custody of a prior foster child and her baby sister. Its wonderful to read your blog and know I'm not alone in these struggles of the adults in foster care. The children are the easy part. The frustration comes from handling the people who are suppose to be here for the kids.
I love everything you write about, but would love to hear how you manage everything from the piles of laundry to the loving on your family every single day.

  6. I started following you because it took us years to get pregnant with our second child and we had started to consider fostering.

It is still on the table for the future and I don't want to start out with no real knowledge of what we are getting into. I didn't even know we lived in the same state for a while until I recognized Larissas music teacher. (We love Chris.)

  8. I am a foster parent in NC and I have been following for about a year. Your posts have been helpful to us on our foster journey! We have an adopted son with attachment disorder who has similar control issues to some of your children.

  13. I read every post. I like reading about the kids and also about what you are up to. I think it is important that people know how difficult the system can be and you put it out there.

  14. Thank you for your blog. It gives me good insight into the world of fostering and post-adoption. I have friends who foster and friends who have adopted (with similar post-adoption issues) and it is great to hear another person's perspective. Also, I really enjoy your art posts! You have an incredible gift and it is really fun to see how you use it! I don't have any advise for future writing. I always enjoy your blog.

    Thanks again!
Rachel (posted under my sister's name because I don't know how to switch it, but she follows/reads for the same reasons!)

  16. I am a foster parent and a teacher in Tennessee. I had 6 kids in the home for over 2 years before one of the boys went to a pre-adoptive home. I like to read how other manage multiple children and running a household.

  18. I've been reading a very long time so I feel like I "know" you and your family. I love reading your family updates and foster insights. I will become a foster parent at some point in the future so I soak up your tips, tricks and info.

  19. I'm still here but have been in the thick of "who the heck plans a 3 day field trip with 14 middle schoolers the days before spring break starts and then there is easter followed by needing to go to Florida for your grandmother's funeral" busy-ness. I started reading because I was interested in fostering to adopt one day and kept reading after we adopted. But more than that, I have begun to love watching these kids thrive and grow as a part of your family. Even the ones who are really challenging are really getting some good growth and healing with you. Praying it goes to completion.

  21. I check in every few months, and marathon all the posts I missed. I read because I think you're a great role model for parenting and I want to internalize that attribute.
