Neglected Blog

Why I have neglected this site........

Three weeks into student teaching with 12 more to go.  We may just survive this semester.  Mondays I get home around 8 pm since I go to class from school.  I don't see the little ones except for when I am walking out the door to head to my school.  Tuesday is dance for Larissa and Anthony and Thursday is dance for Emma.  Two assignments are due on Friday morning at 8 am when I am in class so they have to be done on Thursday.  Another assignment is due by Saturday at 10 am.  I have one big assignment due on Monday.  About every two weeks a big assignment is due. I almost forgot to apply for graduation.  That has to be turned in on Monday.  I will be in class so my dear husband has to do it for me.  One of those ooops moments!

Of course, I have my normal daughter, wife and mother duties as well.  The kids went a few days picking out their own outfits when I realized that I needed to make more time for laundry!

On a positive note, I made reservations for DisneyWorld this summer.  We will be there the first week of June.  It was supposed to be an adoption celebration but I am doubtful that all of our adoptions will be complete at that time.

Monday we meet with Larissa's Child Study team to determine how to help her.  She is really struggling.  Larissa and Anthony share some of the same learning disabilities thanks to genetics and mom making bad choices about drinking during her pregnancy.  The kids didn't chose to have these challenges, they are living with the results of their mom's choices.

Michelle is having a hard time making positive choices for herself.  She is having a boring weekend since she gave her teacher such a hard time all week.  She heard me on the phone with Disney this morning making reservations and asked me about it.  Disney is actually a sore subject for her, her last adoptive home promised to take her to DisneyWorld.  At least this will be a promise fulfilled.

I did take some time to complete a painting project....

So, I am curious, what is everyone else up to and who is still reading my neglected blog?

  1. I read it and I pray for your family. Disney in June? Maybe we can meet up for ice cream at Downtown Disney when you're here! And maybe the adoptions will be finalized by then. I'm praying so. I can't help but wonder if the closure of finalizing the adoption will have the same positive effects on Michelle as it has had on my Lexi.

  2. I still read! I love to read about your family, and I also pray for closure on the adoptions. I know how hard student teaching is, I can't imagine doing it now, while raising a family. I pray that you have a good experience and really love it!

  3. It's just been downright boring here lately.

It does not look like our scheduled travels will ever overlap. Funny, we go the same places but at different times.

I would like to do a three day cruise in early June before Adam heads off to the marines. Tyler's program is on hold. I want to do one of the ones where you sign up at the last minute cheap but who knows if we could get all 8 on that way. But it's the only way I can afford it.

    1. I know we go to FL and you go on a cruise. Then our trips up north are at different times. Next summer I may just plan a trip to come and visit you!

  4. Just wanted to mention that the first week of June at Disney is Gay Days in case you might want to work around that...

    1. Interesting.....I just looked at the dates and our visit only overlaps by one day. It wouldn't prevent us from going anyways.

  5. I am definitely still reading! We are waiting on our permanency for our foster children. Our caseworker is now wanting to go with just permanent custody since they say dad is "doing just enough". Not enough to get them back, but enough to stop tpr. I am with Michelle! Makes me mad! I have a 7 yr old boy who is a need to know kind of kid and a 6 yr old boy that would run off and play with your Emma. Noone seems to truly care about what all the delay and craziness does to the children. And with them having Reactive Attachment Disorder, the uncertainty just leaves them on edge.

  6. Reading periodically...kind of like the Yuku board my time and dedication comes in fits and starts :)

  7. I'm still reading! But I'm not doing anything as exciting as DISNEYWORLD. Speaking of which, you could most assuredly market your Princess Wardrobe Project to Disney- very impressive.
