Give me a Sign

Life here has been crazy and I haven't been keeping up. If you want a shortened photo version of our life I do post to Instagram often!

We have been doing a lot of home projects as well as receiving new foster kids.

So much is going on that I don't even know where to begin! So, is there anything specific that anyone wants me to write about? Anyone still reading my poor neglected blog? Give me a sign that you are out there!

  2. I have Re read your blog several times I started out doing I meant because I was very intrested in becoming a adoption and Foster care and I wanted to know the good bad and ugly so I would be ready to become a Foster parent (you wouldn't believe what people think, like getting a baby right away to adopt, half the people have dropped out of the classes).
It then became a big encouragement to me I have a neurological condition that is a cross between muscular sclerosis and muscular dystrophy and have had many many surgeries and was in constant pain. I found that the medical blogs I read or the vlogs I watched on YouTube were not that great they were either sugarcoating it or they were comparing themselves to others and being proud of who was the sickest and it was almost a competitive
About who got the most medicine or doctor appointments. I even met people like that in a support group who were jealous of my custom wheelchair which is crazy. I knew that it was going to be a very hard battle to get better I also had many people telling me I would not get better and I was wasting my time trying to get better I had no family support. I am happy to say that after 6 years of intense physical occupational and psychological therapy I learnt to live with the pain and moved out of my parents house. Reading your blog gave me and courage on the hard days and also made me realize how lucky I was to the living in New York City where there is so much service available and the best doctors. I am proud to say that in 2012 I moved out of my parents house started my own business with $1200 reselling on Amazon.I lived in a 400 ft² basement apartment and then started rented a garage but the business outgrew it self in 2014 I moved to a 900 ft² place And continued growing the Business. At the same time I was dealing with hospital stays every 2 months and surgeries on a regular basis it was very hard to find people that understood what I was going through and the fact that I wanted to fight I hated when people said you're amazing I'm not amazing I just wanted to be a contributing member to society. In November 2017 I made a very controversial but amazing decision.I chose to do elective below the knee amputee after 7 ankle surgeries with surgeries to come about every 5 years and constant pain. I had to travel out of state for because nobody in New York would do it. I got psychological clearance but all the surgeons didn't think it was a good idea or it was to radical. The crazy thing is army vets who are injured at war have this done all the time they have a healthy limb but not a functional limb which is what I have they see their buddies whose legs were blown off and are doing amazing things on prosthetic legs and are not in as much Pain. My old physical therapist Who worked with me to get out of the wheel chair told the rehab doctor that I would be running in a year, which I didn't believe was possible So November 2017 2 days after my birthday I had it done and it was the best day in my life and the best decision I had ever made I now celebrate that day instead of my birthday. I can now run, walk go up-and-down steps and do anything I want. I wanted to become a parent through foster to adopt. Their are so many children out there who need homes but I couldn't see myself being a parent in the condition I was in so that was the tipping point. Especially after reading about the success you had with Anthony.
My business has grown I'm no longer in pain and In September I moved into a 1900 ft² house. It has more than enough Room for my business 3 bedrooms and a yard. In May I will be fully licensed I know exactly what I and dealing with and what I can handle. You're blog and others have taught me so much

  3. At first I thought I just wanted to do straight adoption but after learning more I am very intrested in Foster care and if adoption works out great but if not that's also OK because at the end of the day I just want to be a part of a child's life I chose an agency that starts services the week the child is removed. I am getting licensed for under 5 years old. I know my limitations and from your blog I see how important and successful it can be if you start at a younger age. The agency I chose actually has a high success rate of reunification because of the support they give to the children and foster parents and encouragement to the parents that they can get their kids back if everyone works together. Attachment disorder is a real thing and anybody who is removed has gone through something traumatic. T
Reading your blog helped me choose the right agency and what life will be like. Its not all sunshine or rainbows but it can be very rewarding and success is possible. So thank you and I hope you continue blogging so I can learn more.
