Placement

I know, no more placements we said. After our current foster placements were resolved we were finished fostering. Well, at the rate we are going it will be awhile. Youngest has a court date at the end of May (we expected one sooner than that). We have no idea when little man will have his court hearing. Our license has to be renewed in June so until our cases are resolved we have to maintain our foster license.

We have been receiving calls for placement but have said no. We are not taking any placements for children under 5 because 3 kids in the home all day are enough. We also didn’t want any boys over the age of 8 because of previous issues. Placement called about an 8 year old boy coming from another foster home. After discussing it with my husband we decided to accept placement.

He happens to come from the same county as our other two foster kids. So far I like his social worker. The day after he was placed with us she had all his school information transferred and our local school called to let me know that he was set to start the next day.

Sometimes I am surprised when we receive kids from other foster homes and they put all their belongings in trash bags. There are lots of programs that help foster parents with obtaining suitcases and bags for foster kids. There was a little change up, they included a Bojangles box.

  1. That makes my heart sad. Those poor children already feel discarded enough.
