Christmas

I know I have been absent. I have been busy enjoying the holidays. I guess I am not much of a blogger these days! I have lots to say and little time to do it. After the first of the year I will be writing a series on attachment and challenges with that. But for now, how our Christmas went.....

I decided that I wanted to have a small painting party so I did. We had a great time.

I had a friend contact me and ask me to paint this picture for his wife for Christmas. She loves frogs.

I had someone else contact me and ask me to do a Christmas painting party for 20 kids.

I had a great time, the kids did too.

We did lots of cooking to include some chicken soup because we fought off the cold several times.

I decided to gift Joselin with the nativity set that I bought in Guatemala during our pick up trip.

When I went to Guatemala I picked up a piece by the same artist.

We made ornaments.

And we made cookies.

Anthony and Larissa put up the lights.

Curious as to how our foster baby looks?

Benjamin put out the cookies.

All the stocking were filled with care. All of them had different stuff.

Benjamin was happy

He took grandma her gifts

and she gave him his gift from her.

He helped her unwrap her gifts.

Christmas kiss, the best gift of all.

She loves her chocolate covered cherries.

Jason spent the night and left before Tasha got here and Kassi came after Tasha left so we didn't get a total group shot this year!

Kassi came by but Noah wasn't feeling well so she didn't stay long.

Noah was happy with his car.

We wore him out.

It was such a good day that I forgot about the trampoline in the garage! My husband says to wait for a warm day before I mention it.

How was your holidays?

  1. Praising God that Christmas was less R.A.D. than Thanksgiving was! She really used the tools they're teaching her at therapy instead of all the controlling, dividing, manipulating she was attempting at Thanksgiving. I THINK she enjoyed her Christmas. I know we and little brother did. Wishing you a happy New Year!

    1. You are having success with therapy?! What type of therapy are you using?

    2. Well, first: it's a residential therapy run by a couple who have 6 birth children and have adopted a number of children. It's run out of their home. Then, they have a therapist who comes in from out of town every 6 weeks or so and does EMDR therapy sessions with the children. This is their website. I know it is far away from you, but I also know that the director has been doing some parent mentoring for a family in my area with a young one (way to young for residential) who has RAD. http://blueskyrespite.com/wordpress/?page_id=10

  2. Christmas was quiet and peaceful for the first time since adoption. It was quiet and peaceful all throughout breakfast, presents, relax time, and Christmas dinner (at 2:00). At 4:00 we went to Grandma's to visit Lexi and exchange gifts. Then it wasn't peaceful anymore. I'll be posting about that soon.
